Ubisoft, the acclaimed video game giant responsible for iconic franchises like Assassin’s Creed, has significantly increased its presence in the flourishing NFT gaming sector. This is evident from their recent decision to join the Cronos network as a validator, an open-source blockchain platform recognized for its seamless integration with Ethereum and Cosmos. By operating a node on this network, Ubisoft is solidifying its position in the NFT gaming industry.

Ubisoft’s involvement in the Cronos network is of great importance as it takes on an active role in producing and validating new blocks on the blockchain. This joint initiative brings Ubisoft together with 27 other esteemed validators, including renowned industry entities like Crypto.com and Blockdaemon. The presence of such a diverse pool of validators plays a significant role in boosting network decentralization.

Ubisoft’s partnership with Cronos Labs reflects a forward-looking approach to advancing blockchain gaming. While the financial details of this collaboration remain undisclosed, the shared goal of driving blockchain gaming forward is evident. Cronos Labs has expressed enthusiasm about the alliance, anticipating valuable insights from Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovation Lab to enhance their endeavors in the field.

Ken Timsit, Managing Director of Cronos Labs, stated, “I have crossed paths with the Ubisoft team many times over the years in the blockchain ecosystem. They have an unparalleled understanding of the potential and the limitations of blockchain technology when it comes to creating deeper engagement between game creators and gamers.”

Ubisoft’s recent collaboration with the Cronos network is not an isolated event but rather a continuation of their ongoing strategic endeavors to bolster their presence in the NFT gaming domain. Throughout their history, Ubisoft has consistently been involved in creating and releasing blockchain games, supporting diverse networks and platforms, and making investments in NFT projects.

Other Blockchain Initiatives

Ubisoft has been leading the way in incorporating blockchain technology into the gaming industry. In a recent partnership with Integral Reality Labs, they introduced an innovative idea known as “Assassin’s Creed Smart Collectibles.” These one-of-a-kind assets are crafted on the Ethereum scaling network, Polygon, and essentially function as NFT access passes, intertwined with physical collectibles inspired by the beloved Assassin’s Creed franchise.

Continuing their streak of pioneering ventures in the blockchain gaming realm, Ubisoft recently unveiled their inaugural blockchain game, “Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles.” This exciting announcement took place at Oasys’ Special Event in Japan, a prominent segment of Japan Blockchain Week, which is supported by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry.

Ubisoft’s ongoing ingenuity in the NFT arena is exemplified by their collaboration with Reddit, wherein they provided complimentary Rabbid-themed NFT avatars to Reddit users. This strategic alliance seamlessly integrates their Rabbids franchise into the ever-evolving NFT landscape.

To sum up, Ubisoft’s dedication to the Web3 gaming sphere is becoming increasingly resolute through their continual pursuit of new partnerships and initiatives. With their strategic involvement in the expanding Cronos network and other endeavors, Ubisoft is well-prepared to make a significant impact on the progression of blockchain gaming.
